The Ann P. (Kiernan) Norton Memorial Scholarship was established in loving memory of Ann Norton.
Ann was a devoted nurse, wife, mother, and cherished member of the community whose compassion and generosity touched countless lives.
Ann was born on January 5, 1962, in Boston, Massachusetts, and was raised in Melrose in a close-knit Irish Catholic family as one of six siblings. She attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1980. She went on to earn her nursing degree from Lasell Junior College, beginning what would become a remarkable 30-year career as a registered nurse primarily in the ICU at Melrose Wakefield Hospital.
Ann lived a life grounded in service, faith, and selflessness. She was widely known as an exceptional nurse, often described as an “earth angel” by patients and colleagues alike. Her intelligence, kindness, and unwavering compassion defined her work.
Beyond her career, Ann was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who always prioritized family. She especially cherished time with her children. She proudly attended their various sporting events and generously volunteered within the community.
Ann passed away on April 15, 2013 after battling with colon cancer. Though her life was cut short, her impact continues to be felt by all who knew her.
Her legacy of compassion, generosity, and service continues through this scholarship.
