The Frank D. Hislop and Beatrice M. Hislop Memorial Scholarship which you received this year was established under the wishes of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hislop.

Mr. Hislop lived in Melrose all of his life residing in the Franklin Square area. He was a talented draftsman who enjoyed making Grandfather clocks. He worked at the Post Office in Boston until his retirement at age seventy.

Mrs. Hislop lived in West Roxbury and moved to Melrose at the time of their marriage. She loved flowers and gardening. For many years in her younger days, she would have a beautiful flower and vegetable garden. She also spent a great deal of her time in Girl Scouting.

Mr. and Mrs. Hislop both had just celebrated their 90th birthday when they passed away within three months of each other in 1987.

They never had children of their own but were very determined to help other young people receive a good education.

The Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund congratulates you upon receiving this memorial scholarship. The founders of this scholarship will always be interested in your plans and progress.
