The Stephan J. Erslan Memorial Scholarship which you have received this year was established by his parents, Mr. and Mrs Daniel Erslan, and his brother, Eric.
Steve was fifteen years old and a sophomore at Melrose High School when he died as the result of a pedestrian-automobile accident. He was born in Akron, Ohio on August 24, 1967. He and his family lived in Ohio through his freshman year, after which they moved to Melrose. Steve was recognized as an outstanding student throughout his school life. He was interested in many varied fields of study and was particularly gifted in art. Steve’s interests outside of school included reading, cartooning, bicycling, and astronomy.
