This scholarship is presented by the Melrose Bandaiders alongside the Danny Williams Band Spirit Award and the recipient is determined by the Melrose Band Director and band staff. The Danny Williams Band Spirit Award is presented to a Band or Color Guard student who demonstrates outstanding school spirit and proudly represents the Melrose Band and Color Guard program. Danny Williams, born in 1992, attended Horace Mann Elementary School and Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School. During his freshman year at Melrose High School, he was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in October 2008. Danny was a proud member of the trumpet section in the MHS Marching Band. He is remembered by all who knew him for his ever-present smile, remarkable spirit, and infectious humor. This award honors Danny’s enduring legacy by recognizing a student who brings pride, joy, and positive energy to the Melrose Band community.
Graduation from high school is the first step out of Melrose and into the world. This is a significant event in your life, and the people who support the Scholarship Fund are happy to join with the faculty of Melrose High School and the community at large in wishing you well.
The sponsor of this scholarship is interested in knowing your plans for the future and would appreciate hearing from you.
