This scholarship is presented by the Melrose Bandaiders alongside the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and the recipient is determined by the Melrose Band Director and band staff. The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, a nationally recognized honor and is presented to outstanding high school jazz musicians across the United States. The award honors the top jazz musician at each high school and recognizes exceptional musicianship, creativity, and dedication to jazz performance. It celebrates the enduring legacy of Louis Armstrong, one of the most influential figures in jazz history, by recognizing students who exemplify excellence, artistry, and commitment to the jazz tradition.
Graduation from high school is the first step out of Melrose and into the world. This is a significant event in your life, and the people who support the Scholarship Fund are happy to join with the faculty of Melrose High School and the community at large in wishing you well.
